Einstein, Albert (1879 - 1955)

Known as one of the brainiest people this world has ever known, Albert Einstein is remembered mostly for his theory, E=MC2.

Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879. He began his 76 year long life by refusing to speak until the age of four. Oh well, a slow start didn't make much difference, as it turned out.

Albert's family ran an electrical machinery shop. Albert, however, was unusual. From a young age he was able to understand complex mathmatics and science. At the age of 12 he taught himself Euclidean geometry. I can't even spell that without a dictionary.

Although Einstien was so smart he hated school. Luckily for him his family's shop got no buisness and was forced to move to Milan. Einstein looked on this as an excuse to drop school. He spent a year with his family then was left on his own as his family were unable to support him any longer. He finished secondary education and went onto the Swiss National Polytechnic in Zurich. Einstein did not like it there either. He often skipped classes to play his violin or to study.

In 1900 Einstein got a job as a tutor and a sub-teacher which lasted for two years. In 1902 he became an examiner in the Swiss Patent Office in Bern. The following year Einstein married Mileva Maric. They had two sons but afterwards got divorced. Einstein later remarried.

In 1921 Einstein won the Nobel Prize for Physics. He got many other awards but the Nobel Prize was the most famous. Einstein's visit to a country was a national holiday and event. Reporters followed him everywhere. Einstein regretted the loss of his privicy but made no movements to stop it.

In 1933, when Hitler came into power, Einstein emigrated to America. After the war Einstein was offered a job as president of Israel but he refused.

Einstein wrote many books, some teamed with other people such as 'Why War?' with Sigmund Freud and 'The Evolution of Physics' with Leopold Infeld.

However, as all lives come to an end, so did his. Albert Einstein died in Princeto on April 8th 1955.
